1. INDEPTH SAC member is 2015 IUSSP Laureate
A member of the INDEPTH Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), Dr Cheikh Mbacké, has been selected by the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) Council to be the 2015 IUSSP Laureate in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the advancement of population sciences and distinguished service rendered to the IUSSP.
Dr Mbacké is being honoured in particular for his contributions to research in the area population and health policies and his invaluable support to the emergence of a community of African population researchers.
The award ceremony will be held in San Diego, California at the forthcoming Population Association of America (PAA) Annual Meeting at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront on 29th April, 2015.

1. Fellowship opportunities

Humboldt young climate & health research grants
The Humboldt Foundation is inviting applications for International Climate Protection Fellowships to promote prospective leaders from transition and developing countries. Applications may be submitted from now until 15 March 2015. This is a highly competitive fellowship with up to 20 young climate experts from non-European transition or developing countries (who already have initial professional and leadership experience in this field) expected to be funded in the next round.
Together with a host, they will work in Germany for a year on a research-based project of their own choice in the field of climate protection. The fellowships, which are funded under the International Climate Protection Initiative by the Federal Environment Ministry, will begin on 1 March 2016. For details check the link below:

The CIRCLE Visiting Fellowship programme
Climate Impacts Research Capacity and Leadership Enhancement in Sub-Saharan Africa (CIRCLE) programme is an initiative of the Department for International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom (UK) to develop the skills and research output of early career African researchers in the field of climate change and its local impacts on development. The programme which runs till 2018, is managed and implemented by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and the African Academy of Sciences (AAS).
The application process for the second cohort of CVFs has started and the fellowships will commence in September/October 2015. Links to the online application form will be available through the home institutions. For more details check the link below:
