Greetings from the INDEPTH Secretariat. We hope you have had a good week.
We have the following items for your attention:
1. Graduate Scholarships at AUB for students from Africa
 The the American University of Beirut, Lebanon (AUB) is announcing 5 scholarships open for the academic year 2015-2016 for students from Africa who would like to pursue graduate education in public health at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS). The scholarships are funded by the MasterCard Foundation Scholars program http://mastercardfdnscholars.org/. Eligible students are those who are academically promising, have leadership skills and a desire to give back and go back to their communities after their degree, and are financially disadvantaged (within the lowest two quintiles of income in their country of origin). The scholarships will be open for the following degrees offered by the Graduate Public Health Program (GPHP) at FHS:
- Master of Public Health (MPH) with 3 areas of concentration:
- Epidemiology and Biostatistics (EPBS)
- Health Promotion and Community Health (HPCH)
- Health Management and Policy (HMP)
- Master of Science in Epidemiology (MS EPID)
2. Deadline for application to the GPHP MCF SP scholarships: June 2, 2015

3. Morbidity Module
 One of our member-centres, Kintampo HDSS, is planning to introduce a morbidity module in their (2015) July to December round of data collection. This module will collect information on Infectious and Chronic morbidities, malaria, TB, hospitalisation, injury, disabilities, alcohol and tobacco use, among others.
In case your centre may have collected similar data before; or are even currently doing so (and/or are contemplating doing so), this message is addressed to you.
We are seeking your assistance to share with the Kintampo team (and any other colleagues in the Network) the tools/questionnaires you have used so that they can be adapted. This will allow for some level of comparison. They will also welcome any suggestions you may offer as to how to go about this. Kintampo will eventually share the tool they develop out of this.
The Secretariat will eventually facilitate the development of a morbidity surveillance tool which will have a MINIMUM CORE and potential for additional modules. The minimum core will allow for multi-centre comparisons and the additional modules will allow for centre-specific adjustments/interests.
