2. Morbidity Module
One of our member-centres, Kintampo HDSS, is planning to introduce a morbidity module in their (2015) July to December round of data collection. This module will collect information on Infectious and Chronic morbidities, malaria, TB, hospitalisation, injury, disabilities, alcohol and tobacco use, among others.
In case your centre may have collected similar data before; or are even currently doing so (and/or are contemplating doing so), this message is addressed to you.
We are seeking your assistance to share with the Kintampo team (and any other colleagues in the Network) the tools/questionnaires you have used so that they can be adapted. This will allow for some level of comparison. They will also welcome any suggestions you may offer as to how to go about this. Kintampo will eventually share the tool they develop out of this.
The Secretariat will eventually facilitate the development of a morbidity surveillance tool which will have a MINIMUM CORE and potential for additional modules. The minimum core will allow for multi-centre comparisons and the additional modules will allow for centre-specific adjustments/interests.
Please forward the tools and/or suggestions to Dr. Martin Bangha (martin.bangha@indepth-network.org) for sharing with Kintampo HDSS.
3. Survey for member centres
The information elicited in the attached short form is aimed at gathering specific details on clinical laboratory capacity at INDEPTH member centres. This is a complement to the member survey and is aimed at designing a study on diseases burden in our communities that explores the full potential of a comprehensive data system. We will appreciate receiving responses by early next week (for those who haven't sent already) as this will be summarised for proposal by month end. Please send the responses to our Capacity Strengthening & Training Manager Dr Martin Bangha (martin.bangha@indepth-network.org).
