1. WHO SDG Newsletter July 2017 mentions the new INDEPTH Strategy
The WHO SDG Newsletter presents “selected publications and articles published during the past month pertaining to the SDGs from IRIS and PubMed. Documents are listed by the 6 lines of action, plus SDGs in general, and of regional and national interest.” The new INDEPTH publication in The Lancet Global Health 2017 is listed in the following two lines of action: Respect for equity & human rights and M&E, data management, tracking.
2. Executive Director joins Vice Chancellors of African Universities at CARTA meeting Centre

Prof Osman Sankoh, Executive Director of INDEPTH Network joined a team of Vice Chancellors of African Universities and heads of Research Institutions at the CARTA meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya under the auspices of the African Population and Health Research Centre, the parent institution of Nairobi HDSS, an INDEPTH member centre.  The meeting, among others, discussed the achievements, commitment by Universities and the next steps of the CARTA programme.  Research funding was topical as well as postgraduate training in Africa.  The meeting collated perspectives from Vice Chancellors and heads of research centres associated with the CARTA programme.  The host of the meeting was Prof. Peter M F Mbithi, VC of the University of Nairobi. The Meeting agreed to publish its deliberations in the key scientific journal to present its position on doctoral research in Africa.
3. Dr Mamusu Kamanda Presents at SDG meeting in London
Dr. Mamusu Kamanda, Acting INDEPTH Manager for Scientific Research and Coordination
The Acting INDEPTH Manager for Scientific Research and Coordination, Dr. Mamusu Kamanda, has made a presentation at the meeting for author and reference group for the The Big Book about SDG 4 in London, UK. This meeting brings together the authors to review and discuss the first rough drafts of the chapters; to sharpen the thinking and analysis; and strengthen the interlinkages between chapters and themes. Dr. Kamanda was among fourteen participants who attended the meeting, including the facilitators – Antonio Wulff (Education International, Belgium) and Hugh McClean (Open Society Education Support Program, UK) – and members of the reference group (the aforementioned), Aaron Benavot (Director of the UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report, France) and Angeline Barrett (University of Bristol, UK).
4. Countdown to AGM 2017
This year the INDEPTH Annual General Meeting will be held from 11-13 December 2017 in Dubai, UAE and we are happy to announce that the online registration link is now activated at (Register).We encourage all centre leaders to register now.  See you there.
5. The Aga Khan University - Institute for Human Development (IHD)
Call for Presentation Proposals – 2nd International Conference of IHD

The Aga Khan University is calling for Presentation Proposals for the November 7-9 Second International Conference of the Institute for Human Development at Aga Khan University.
If you are interested in submitting a proposal, please note that 1. The submission platform will be ready to receive proposals after June 30. 2. Conference registration will open by mid-August, with early-bird. registration discount lasting until mid-September. Registration will stop at 300. You will receive a reminder with conference fee information before registration opens. 3. Mail-out of proposal acceptance notifications will begin on September.

6. National Conference on “Health Inequities in India: Transformative Research for Action” & AMCCON 2018 -     Call for Abstracts and Early Bird Registration

AMCCON 2018 is a combined event along with the National Conference on “Health Inequities in India: Transformative Research for Action”. The National Conference is part of the “Closing the Gap: Health Equity Research Initiative in India” project being implemented by AMCHSS since 2014. AMCCON 2018 offers early career public health researchers and students a unique opportunity to interact with about 50-60 invited experts participating in its events as plenary speakers, chairs and discussants of sessions and in finalising health equity research agenda for India.

7. Grand Challenges Canada / Grands Défis Canada - Funding Opportunities / Occasions de financement
 

Through the Stars in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Request for Proposals, Grand Challenges Canada seeks bold ideas for products, services and implementation models that could transform how persistent challenges in reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health are addressed in low- and middle-income countries. Of particular interest to Grand Challenges Canada are innovations to improve reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health in humanitarian contexts, notably among internally displaced and refugee populations, as well as innovations that improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and girls, so that they are empowered and have greater influence over their lives and futures.

8.  World Health Organization (WHO) - Call for Research Findings on Digital Health Interventions
In response to a global need for evidence-based global recommendations on the use of digital health interventions available via mobile device, the WHO Department of Reproductive Health and Research (RHR) in collaboration with other WHO departments has commenced the process of developing WHO Guidelines. As part of this process, over the coming months, a series of systematic reviews of research evidence have been commissioned on specific digital health topics. WHO is requesting from the global community any and all relevant primary studies that should be considered for inclusion in the systematic reviews. This is your opportunity to contribute to the literature that will be included in the systematic reviews that will be informing WHO Guidelines on Digital Health Interventions.
