We have successfully come to the end of another week and as we always do, we have the following exciting news to share.

1. Wellcome Trust visits INDEPTH Resource and Training Centre

Dr Branwen J Hennig, Senior Portfolio Lead in Population, Environment and Health, UK Environment and Health at the Wellcome Trust in London, UK paid a courtesy call on 6th July 2017 at the INDEPTH Resource & Training Centre in Accra, Ghana where she held discussions with Prof. Osman Sankoh, the INDEPTH Executive Director. INDEPTH has been honoured over the years to receive representatives from most of its funding organisations.

 Wellcome Trust started funding INDEPTH in 2002 with a grant to assist INDEPTH develop a strategic business plan. Since 2002 the Wellcome Trust has consistently provided core and project funding to INDEPTH, culminating in a long-term strategic award for the period 2012-2018 which, together with support from Sida/Research Cooperation Unit (Sweden) and Hewlett Foundation (USA), has made INDEPTH today’s leader in sharing public health research data from the Global South. 2. Countdown to AGM 2017
This year the INDEPTH Annual General Meeting will be held from 11-13 December 2017 in Dubai, UAE and we are happy to announce that the online registration link is now activated at (Register).We encourage all centre leaders to register now.  See you there.
3. EDCTP Announcement of 2017 calls for proposals
EDCTP is launching 11 calls for proposals in 2017 to support clinical research and capacity building in sub-Saharan Africa. These calls represent a total investment of more than € 156.5M to tackle poverty-related diseases (PRDs), including neglected ones.
 
The calls for proposals are part of the EDCTP work plan for 2017 which was approved by the General Assembly (GA) of the EDCTP Association on 23 May 2017. The European Commission approved it on 3 July 2017, and EDCTP Association Board approved it on behalf of the GA on 5 July 2017.
