Friday Newsletter from the Secretariat
12th December 2014
Dear Centre Leaders,
Greetings from the INDEPTH Secretariat. We hope you have had a good week.

We have the following items for your attention this week:

1. Board Elections
Due to the postponement of the AGM in Kampala to the ISC in Addis Ababa in November 2015, the INDEPTH Board has decided, to organise the Board Elections  electronically.

Nominations will be done as usual by email and then the voting will be done by electronic balloting. We will send you specific information in the coming days.

2. Modest Financial Support available for Impact Case Studies
The Secretariat is pleased to announce that it will be able to provide modest financial support to centres that are willing to CONTRIBUTE IMPACT CASE STUDIES. ‎ The amount may be used by Centre Leaders for the time their staff spend to write up the studies and/or refreshments provided.

Please indicate to osman.sankoh@indepth-network.org willingness to participate before December 15.

We had circulated four powerful impact case studies from Agincourt (South Africa), Manhica (Mozambique), Nairobi (Kenya) and Dodowa (Ghana) on how their work have contributed to influencing policy and practice.

The idea: We want to compile an INDEPTH book on Impact Case Studies by our member centres in Africa, Asia and Oceania.

3. Stanford’s Senior Associate Dean for Global Health visits INDEPTH
Prof. Michele Barry, Senior Associate Dean for Global Health and Director of the Centre for Innovation in Global Health at Stanford University in California, USA, on Thursday, 11th December, 2014, paid a courtesy call on INDEPTH’s Executive Director, Prof. Osman Sankoh.

Michele and Osman interacted on possible avenues for collaboration between INDEPTH and Stanford especially in the area of Big Data. A delegation led by Osman will be visiting Stanford University in mid-January 2015 for detailed discussions on the proposals.

4. New Centre Leader for Iganga-Mayuge HDSS
There has been a change in the leadership of Iganga-Mayuge HDSS, Uganda, since November 2014. Assoc. Prof Fred Wabwire-Mangen has taken over from Prof. David Guwatudde. We welcome Fred to the INDEPTH family
