INDEPTH Data Management Programme

The INDEPTH Data Management Programme (IDMP) is the a comprehensive effort by the Secretariat aimed to member centres improve data collection and management processes, assuring data quality and more importantly improving the turn-around time from data collection to release of data within the Network. In effect, the IDMP encompasses a series activities and relevant training support organise frequently (and/or occasionally when and where necessary) to enable member centres to contribute fully documented, high-quality core micro-level datasets and indicators to the Network scientific programme in a timely manner.Under the framework of this programme, we currently have the following closely-linked initiatives:

  • The INDEPTHStats: a website for display and visualization of summary statistics of key health and demographic indicators generated from the INDEPTH member HDSS centres that have gone through consistency checks and plausibility tests at various levels;
  • The OpenHDS: an open source data capture software that builds on the experience from the HRS2 system (but exploits modern client-server architectures as well as recent developments in portable electronic devices) to provide a data processing system designed for efficient and cost effective data capture, management, and communication in HDSS centresand;
  • The INDEPTH Data Repository: a unique online archive of high-quality longitudinal datasets from INDEPTH member HDSS centres that have gone through consistency checks and plausibility tests at various levels.

Other data quality assurance, management support: General training support for data issues when and where necessary.
