One of the three strategic objectives of INDEPTH is: “To strengthen the capacity of INDEPTH member centres to conduct longitudinal health and demographic studies” as well as their capacity to collect quality data to enhance understanding of health and social issues. In order to effectively pursue this objective, the INDEPTH Secretariat has decided to constitute a Capacity Strengthening and Training Strategic Group that will regularly discuss capacity strengthening and training issues in INDEPTH.

Objectives:
The main objective of this first workshop is to deliberate on how the Network should address capacity strengthening and training issues that will be tabled for discussion during the upcoming AGM in Addis Ababa
More specifically the workshop will provide an opportunity for members:
• Review of participating centres’ efforts and policies
• Discussion results of Network-wide survey and propose ways of effectively implementing this across the Network
• To agree on key resolutions for effective and efficient Network-wide capacity strengthening activities to be tabled for deliberation in Addis Ababa
