Working Groups & Interest Groups
Collaborative research networks driving innovation in global health through multi-site studies, shared expertise, and evidence-based solutions to critical health challenges across low- and middle-income countries.
Advancing Research Through Collaboration
Collaborative research networks driving innovation in global health through multi-site studies, shared expertise, and evidence-based solutions to critical health challenges across low- and middle-income countries.
Working Group Leadership & Accountability
- Each working group is chaired by a leader responsible for coordinating research activities and proposal development
- Group leaders report regularly on progress to both their members and the broader INDEPTH Network
- Leaders are accountable to participating sites and ensure alignment with network objectives
- Working groups receive financial support from the Secretariat for proposal development and collaborative research initiatives
- Groups maintain transparency through regular updates, meetings, and collaborative decision-making processes
From Interest Group to Working Group
INDEPTH has a structured pathway for research groups to evolve from exploratory Interest Groups into fully-operational Working Groups, ensuring quality, focus, and impact.
Interest Group Formation
Researchers with shared interests form an Interest Group to explore potential research areas and collaborations within the INDEPTH Network.
Research Development
Groups identify fundable research areas, develop research concepts, and establish collaborative frameworks with participating sites.
Working Group Status
Upon meeting specific criteria including proposal development and funding identification, the Interest Group graduates to a Working Group with full network support.
Active Working Groups
Clinical Trials
Advancing clinical research capacity across INDEPTH sites through coordinated multi-site trials, standardized protocols, and collaborative pharmaceutical and vaccine studies in low- and middle-income settings.
Mental Health
Addressing the critical gap in mental health research and surveillance in LMICs through population-based studies, intervention trials, and evidence generation for policy and program development.
Emerging Interest Groups
Multiple Interest Groups are currently developing research concepts in areas including non-communicable diseases, climate health, aging, and maternal-child health, working toward Working Group status.
Financial Support
Secretariat funding for proposal development and collaborative research activities
Multi-Site Research
Access to diverse populations across multiple countries for robust, generalizable findings
Knowledge Exchange
Share expertise, methodologies, and best practices with leading researchers globally
Capacity Building
Training opportunities, mentorship, and skill development for researchers and staff
Enhanced Impact
Amplify research impact through network visibility and collaborative publications
