Databases should be programmed to disallow illegal events and ranges (e.g. a male can not be
pregnant).
- Plausibility of dates and order of events
The DSS should record events and their sequences in their right order. If a person is registered as
return in-migrant (IN-MIGRATION), the preceding end event type should be OUT- MIGRATION. If an
EXIT is recorded for a person, the immediate next start event type should be ENTRY. If DEATH is
recorded as end event type, no subsequent event should be recorded for the deceased person.
Again, routines can check for errors (e.g. a death can not occur to a member prior to the members
birth date). (
