One of the objectives of the DSS is to record all core events that happened to DSS members and
the dates they occurred. To effectively monitor changes in the number of events in the DSA, it is
advisable to have an event summary form which compiles on a continual basis the number of
events recorded. All field workers should be asked on a regular basis to summarize the number of
core events that s/he records. After the number is verified by supervisor, the report should be
passed on to field coordinator to compile them and generate a total number of events at DSA level.
Report compiled from event summary form should be used to check against report produced by
data managers after all events are stored in the data base. Comparison of report between summary
from event summary form and the data base is an important task to be carried out at the end of
every round. Discrepancies in the volume of events will provide some insights in data entry or data
storing procedures. For instance, the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC)
compiles summary of all events per completed HRB.
