Job description

The ENAP project is currently being implemented in five HDSSs in Africa and Asia. The project coordinator is responsible for coordinating ENAP activities in the five HDSSs (Iganga-Mayuge, Uganda; Bandim, Guinea Biassau; Kintampo, Ghana; Dabat, Ethiopia and Matlab, Bangladesh).  S/he is the main point of contact for the ENAP network to interact with study HDSSs, technical secretariat at Makerere University and the partners at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). Specific major tasks including: (1) Facilitate study activities in study sites; (2) Monitor and follow-up study process in assigned sites; (3) Report to study Technical team/LSHTM and INDEPTH; and (4) involve in writing articles for publication.

The ENAP project coordinator will be employed by the Project to be based in the INDEPTH office in Accra, Ghana. However, should the INDEPTH Headquarters move to elsewhere, the ENAP project coordinator will be expected to be prepared for the adjustments.

The ENAP project coordinator will be supervised by the INDEPTH Scientific Research and Coordination Manager in his/her day-to-day activities at the INDEPTH Resource and Training Centre. S/he will also be working directly with Prof. Peter Waiswa at the Makerere School of Public Health, Kampala, Uganda.

Key responsibilities/Tasks

1. Coordinate project activities 

  • Work with the Technical and LHTM team to finalize project work plan and study protocol
  • Liaison between the sites and the partners/Technical team
  • Organize monthly skype call
  • Provide technical and administrative support to sites and Technical team/LSHTM
  • Organize and attending project meetings, training workshop and involving in training to sites including data entry, management and analysis. 
  • Coordinate  with ICT department to manage project website with information from the project activities and on other social media

2. Work together with the technical team to submit quarterly technical report to LSHTM

3. Work with Finance to submit quarterly financial report to LSHTM and submit invoice for the next quarter funds.

4. Coordinate with INDEPTH Finance department to ensure all funds received from LSHTM are transferred to participating member centres on time.

5. Ensure centres submit both financial and technical report on time.

6. Contribute to writing proposal applications for new funding

7. Actively contribute to and, when appropriate, project meetings

8. Linking ENAP work to strengthening the Maternal Newborn and Child Health Working Group in general. Here, he/she will help communicate between the Working Group and the centres

9. Support the INDEPTH scientific research and coordination department as and when required

10. Any other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director, Technical Coordinator and PI.

Qualification required and experience: 

  • Masters Degree or higher in Demography, Public Health, Population Studies and Epidemiology.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related position.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with HDSS sites will be an added advantage
