The School seeks to appoint the following key positions:

1.Epidemiologist

We are looking for a dynamic person with excellent skills in Epidemiology  and/or Biostatistics to lead the Epidemiological research and training undertaken by the School.  The incumbent will be expected to stimulate epidemiologic research within the School and the Faculty of Health Sciences.

2. Academic Co-ordinator :Msc in Population-based Field Epidemiology

The aim of the partnership between the INDEPTH Network and Wits University is to strengthen scientific leadership capacity in Africa, and will focus on the skills required to generate high quality, population-based data necessary to respond to public health challenges facing the continent.  The main responsibilities of the candidate will be the academic co-ordination of the development, implementation and evaluation of the new masters programme.  The position offers an exciting opportunity for innovative curriculum development and implementation, as well as collaboration with scientific colleagues throughout Africa.

Qualifications:  At least a Masters degree in Epidemiology and/or Biostatistics, Public Health, Demography or related disciplines.  The successful applicant will be required to have strong management and leadership abilities and field experience will be an advantage.  The co-ordinator will be based in Johannesburg and will be required to travel to rural research sites in South Africa as well as in other African countries.
