Dr. Hong Wang

 Dr. Hong Wang has over 28 years of experience in health policy globally, with a focus on health economics, financing and systems in developing countries. He is currently employed at Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) as a Senior Program Officer in Integrated Delivery team. His responsibilities include taking a leading intellectual and implementation roles in the formulation of Gates Foundation position on the critical issues in health economics, financing and systems, particularly related to primary healthcare (PHC) development; serving as an advisor to foundation Co-Chairs and leadership, as well as to the program teams, regarding the effects of health economics, financing and systems on portfolios and programs performance; serving as an in-house experts on technical and data questions related financing for health, health system and PHC measurement; and managing a grant portfolio focused on improving primary healthcare globally including understanding how economic policies influence PHC quality and quantity and ultimately health impacts. Dr. Wang is also an adjunct clinical associate professor at Yale School of Public Health. Before joining in BMGF, Dr. Wang was a Principal Associate/Senior Health economist at Abt Inc., an Associate Professor and Acting Director for Health Economics Department at Beijing Medical University, an Adjunct Professor and Deputy Director at National Health Economics Institute of Ministry of Health, China, and an Assistant Professor for Glo.
