Dr Jocalyn Clark

Dr Jocalyn Clark is a public health scientist and professional journal editor based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. 

In November 2013 she was appointed executive editor of the Journal of Health, Population, and Nutrition and other external publications at the global health research organisation icddr,b in Dhaka, where she also leads a training unit to build capacity in scientific writing and communications.

Previously, Jocalyn was a senior editor at PLOS Medicine and assistant editor at BMJ.  She is also an adjunct assistant professor of medicine at the University of Toronto and a consultant for Grand Challenges Canada where she developed the organization’s online proposal development resource. 

She holds a BSc in Biochemistry and Microbiology, a MSc in Public Health, and a PhD in Public Health, for which she was a doctoral fellow of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

Jocalyn is dedicated to building capacity in research, writing, and knowledge translation among developing country investigators and institutions, and is a recognised leader in the mechanics of writing, writing for publication, publication ethics, medical publishing, open access, and global/women’s health.  She has over 125 publications in peer-reviewed medical journals.

In 2013 Jocalyn was a fellow of the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center residency programme for her project examining “the medicalization of global health.”
