Dr. Sibusiso Mkwananzi

An associate lecturer and PhD candidate in the Demography and Population Studies Programme at Wits University. She holds a Masters in Epidemiology and Biostatistics as well as a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of the Witwatersrand. She coordinates the Honours Programme and teaches Introduction to Population Studies and Introduction to Demographic Methods to postgraduates as well as Demography and Development to undergraduates. Sibusiso is a recipient of the National Research Foundation Innovation and Scarce Skills Fellowship and the Oppenheimer Memorial Trust Foundation Scholarship. Her PhD dissertation is entitled “The Socio-structural Analysis of Teenage Pregnancy in South Africa” and investigates teenage pregnancy across a span of 13 years to identify factors beyond the individual-level that are associated with teenage pregnancy. Her research interests include adolescent fertility, sexual and reproductive health, youth-related studies and development. Sibusiso aspires to contribute to the positive transformation of developing nations through conducting research and advising on policy adjustments.collaborative research institutes and Universities such us the University of Heidelberg in Germany, University of Montreal in Canada. He is currently the Head of research, training and communication department at the Centre de Recherche en Santé de Nouna, Burkina Faso since 2007 and has more than 10 peer reviewed publications in renowned journals. He is also a lecturer within the master in international program running by Alexandria University in partnership with Ouaga II University since 2014
