Stuart Ali works at the Sydney Brenner Institute of Molecular Bioscience (SBIMB) at the University of the Witwatersrand, as Project Manager and Investigator for the H3 Africa Cardiometabolic Collaborative Center (AWI-Gen. Stuart’s career has traversed diverse roles in molecular bioscience research and business development. Stuart co-founded an HIV clinical research center, has led EMEA sales, service and support functions for Thermo Life Science and Molecular Devices, and was Product Manager for high-throughput genotyping robotics at Robocon. He has worked in several gene therapy research laboratories including the Systemix Gene Therapy Laboratory at Novartis Research Institute Vienna, Baxter Healthcare, Bioproducts and Bioengineering AG, Oxford University and the University of the Witwatersrand. Stuart holds BSc (Hons) and PhD degrees in molecular biology, a PG Diploma in Management and is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health. Stuart lives in Johannesburg with his wife, several (!) cats, and two dogs named Matilda and Pandora.
