INDEPTH takes concrete steps to improve INDEPTHStats platform

INDEPTH has held a fruitful discussion with  the developer of Statplanet,  the backbone for the INDEPTHStats  platform to improve the display of the visualised demographic indicators. This is in line with reviewing the entire process after some years of implementing the INDEPTHStats platform.

The discussion dwelled on:

1.       Automating   the steps in producing the visualised demographic indicators for INDEPTHStats

2.       Understanding  StatPlanet cloud version, an alternative for improved INDEPTHStats platform

The group agreed on how the automation of the steps in producing the visualised demographic  indicators for INDEPTHStats will be done. The automation will reduce the period in producing the visualised indicators on the web. This will contribute significantly to the review process that indicators have to go through before upload.

The group also discussed the StatPlanet Cloud Version to consider that as an alternative to improve the INDEPTHStats platform.

Another key outcome of the meeting was the task to reduce  the time of display on the web after the application has been launched. This takes quite a number of seconds especially if one does not have good internet. To reduce the time visualised indicators display, the developer intimated  very convincing approach to this. When this is also finalised, visitors will wait for only few seconds after launching the platform to view the visualised indicators. This is likely to increase the number of  visitors to the site. This move is as a result of complains received form visitors about the “waiting period” to view the demographic indicators.

The team from INDEPTH were Francis Ameni- Acting ICT manager and Somnath Sambhudas – an INDEPTH Consultant.
