Joana Yinpaab Duubon

Position: Municipal Nutrition Officer

Joana is the Head of Nutrition at the Kintampo-North Municipal Health Directorate. She provides technical and administrative advice and support to the Municipal Director of Health Services and Public Health Nurse on nutrition and other health related issues. She also works in the areas of Maternal and Child health and serves as a Regional Trainer of Trainers in various fields. She was the Ghana Health Service Institutional Coordinator for the EMBRACE Implementation Research in the Kintampo-North Municipality from October 2014 to December 2015. This was a collaboration between Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Ghana Health Service where she worked hand in hand with the Kintampo Health Research Centre in its implementation. Before joining the Service, Joana worked as a Field Facilitator from 2009 to 2011 with the Community Driven-Initiatives for Food Security, a CIDA-Funded project jointly implemented by Agriteam Canada and CARE in the North-Eastern corridor districts of Ghana. Whilst there, she supported the Northern Regional Planning and Coordinating Unit, District Assemblies as well as communities with planning, advocacy, implementation and monitoring Food Security initiatives as well as Gender issues. She was District Logistics Officer for RTI’s Indoor Residual Spaying in East Mamprusi District-Ghana. In June 2006, she completed her BSc in Community Nutrition at the University for Development Studies, Nyankpala-Ghana. Her research work looked at Cooking fuel use and the nutrition of selected households in Missiga, Bawku East District in the Upper East Region of Ghana. Joana has special interest in Public Health especially in the area of Maternal and Child Health.
