Maternal and Neonatal Mortality at INDEPTH member HDSSs - Data Analysis and Writing Workshop

Objectives

Agree standard definitions and prepare the individual-level data for analysis
2. Conduct comparative analysis of maternal and newborn mortality based on existing data
3. Drafting of centre-specific and multi-centre papers based on identified research questions that will be supported by the existing data
4. Develop a newborn research agenda for INDEPTH Network and proposal for funding
5. Develop / Agree standardised tools for tracking of pregnancies and their outcomes including collecting verbal autopsy

 

Expected Outcomes:
• Draft manuscripts (country-specific, cross-site and cross-comparative analysis) to be submitted for publication in a reputable journal
• Draft INDEPTH Network newborn research agenda and a proposal for funding

a) The Secretariat will cover the cost of a return economy class ticket from home country to the city where the workshop will be held.
b) Reasonably priced non-refundable tickets will be purchased. When you receive a booking you must check to ensure that everything is fine. Once confirmed by you, any changes that will lead to extra cost must be covered by the member centre.
c) Travel insurance and immunizations cannot be covered by INDEPTH. Please contact your institution if you require travel insurance and immunization.
d) In-country travel from centres to the airport will be covered. Please inform the Secretariat of the cost for approval before initiating any payments. Evidence of payment for the travel must be produced.
e) Should overnight stays both in-country and while in transit be necessary, please inform the Secretariat before starting the journey so that adequate preparation can be done for reimbursements. Original receipts will be requested by the Secretariat.
f) The Secretariat will usually cover accommodation for the workshop days plus half boarding. A modest per diem will be paid for dinner and incidentals. All other services at the hotel (mini bar, telephones, etc) must be paid for directly by the participants.

a) We will issue out invitation letters to confirmed participants to apply for visas, where applicable. Please inform the Secretariat if you require any assistance.
b) Please ensure you have a valid visa to travel. Tickets will only be issued where there is evidence of a visa to travel to Ghana.

TWO participants per member centre. A centre running more than one HDSS may nominate 2 data analysts and one clinician/epidemiologist
2. In all we expect about 50 participants along with facilitators
3. For each participating centres, we expect a Data Analyst and a Medical Doctor or someone who has worked on Neonatal / Maternal health at the centre, and/or who can interpret the results of the analyses.
