Second INDEPTH-IJE Cohort Profile Writing Workshop

Objectives:
As was the case with the first, this second workshop will provide the 'quiet space' with editorial support from IJE for INDEPTH member centres (yet to submit draft profiles) to finalise their draft cohort profiles for submission to IJE. The specifics include:

  1. Peer review of draft profiles;
  2. Revision and incorporation of comments from editors and;
  3. Discussion of other potential ideas related to publication in the IJE

The Secretariat was able to secure agreement with the International Journal of Epidemiology (IJE; impact factor 7 over the past 5 years) to publish cohort profiles of all INDEPTH member HDSSs. In June 2012 the first set of profiles (Kilifi, Ouagadougou, Chakaria and Karonga) were published in the launch Issue – 41(3) with others published in subsequent issues (Agincourt, Kisumu, Navrongo and Nanoro) in 41(4-5). The first INDEPTH-IJE Cohort Profile Writing Workshop was held in Accra 8-10 November 2012. In all seven member HDSSs were represented physically with 10 draft profiles submitted for review. Of these ten draft profile, five (Ballabgarh, Chililab, Kaya, Manhica and Niakhar) while the others are expected in the near future.
