Mr. Nagai obtained his Higher National Diploma in Statistics from the Accra Polytechnic in 1998 and BSc Economics from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Greenhill College in 2007. In 2008, he was offered a 2.5 years Wellcome Trust Scholarship to pursue an MSc. in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa and completed in 2011. He worked with the health operational research and health information system management units of the Greater Accra regional health directorate, Ghana Health Service, as a Regional Research Coordinator from 2004-2013
