Peter Sifuna is a social scientist with a background in Public Health, Epidemiology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). He works at the Kombewa Clinical Research Centre in Kenya as the Principal Investigator/Programme lead for the Kombewa Health and Demographic Surveillance Systems (HDSS). Peter holds a Master in Public Health from the School of Public Health (Epidemiology & Population Health) from Maseno University in Kenya. He played a critical role in setting up the Kombewa HDSS (a population surveillance project meant to serve as a platform for conducting population and epidemiological studies, monitoring and evaluation of intervention projects and clinical trials in rural Western Kenya). He continues to maintain and expand the scope of the programme. His main research interests include population health, disease mapping and social determinants of health. Mr. Sifuna has authored or co-authored several publications. He is currently involved in a number of studies nested on the HDSS platform.
