Dr Muluemebet Abera Wordofa

Muluemebet Abera Wordofa is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Population and Family Health, Jimma University. She is also the leader of Gilgel Gibe HDSS site. Muluemebet Abera Wordofa holds a PhD in International Health from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (2015). She has over 20 years of experience in teaching, research and management. Currently, she is co-PI of three major projects at Jimma  University: (1) Cause of death study; (2) Implementation research on management of sick young infants with possible serious bacterial infection where referral is not possible and; (3) An Implementation Study of Interventions to Promote Safe Motherhood in Jimma Zone, Southwest Ethiopia. Before joining Jimma University, Dr. Abera served as maternal and child health Programs co-ordinator at Assela Hospital for 7 years and as a Clinical instructor at Assela School of Nursing in Southeast Ethiopia for three years. Her research interests include maternal and newborn health issues, adolescent reproductive health, and gender health and development.
