Grants from INDEPTH

INDEPTH Small Grants Programme

The overall goal of this INDEPTH Small Grants programme is to encourage research undertaken by at least three member centres of the Network and as well as strengthen research capacity that will lead to multi-centre publications. We use INDEPTH core funds to support these collaborative projects, hence the amounts involved are understandably small. Usually we have a maximum of $150,000 to share among highly competitive applications.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

A consortium of at least three member HDSSs wishing to apply for sub-grants, led by one of them, contacts the INDEPTH Secretariat with a 1-2 page expression of interest. If the EOI is found acceptable to be supported, the Secretariat will request for a full proposal which must be submitted using the template provided on this web page.

The Secretariat will receive applications throughout the year. All applications will be peer-reviewed. Sub-grants will be awarded based on available funding.

The application must be on the INDEPTH templates in Microsoft Word, and must be completed in Calibri font, size 11, and should be single-spaced.

Incomplete applications and/or applications that do not meet formatting requirements (including page limits) will not be reviewed.

ELIGIBLE PROPOSALS SHOULD:

Involve at least three HDSSs (except for young scientists/re-entry grant applicants)

Have a research agenda showing how to take advantage of the cross-centre design;

and/or an immediate and longer-term plan for building scientific capacity.

Draw on the strengths of the HDSS data in combination with other data sources

Making use of the longitudinal frame of the HDSS

Policy oriented research is also encouraged
