Sulaimon A. Afolabi

Sulaimon A. Afolabi is a data scientist, demographer, statistician and information technology expert with a strong technical background. Since 2007, he has been working as a data scientist at the Wits Rural Public Health & Health Transitions Research Unit also known as the Agincourt HDSS. He holds Bachelor-Hons (2002) and Master (2007) degrees in Demography and currently rounding off his doctoral degree programme in the same field. He is an alumnus of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Apart from data management, he is interested in studying the components of population change - migration, mortality and fertility and their impact on the health and well-being of people. He is part of the INDEPTH working group on the Multi-centre Analysis of the Dynamics in Migration and Health and IShare2. He has received grants from the Population Association of America and International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) to present his work at their respective conferences in San Francisco, USA and Busan, South Korea.
