IHOPE Protocol Review Meeting
The objective of the meeting is to review the iHOPE protocol and draft instruments that have been revised based on comments from SAG and finalise them for SAG review and Ethics (at the various implementing sites)
A proposal for a core and expanded set of standardised questions will need to balance two main considerations: what are the questions that will increase the probability of getting an accurate response, and if different from the existing set of questions, how can the changes be minimised so as not to lose continuity through the years or to induce a break-in-series. Having standard sets (core and expanded) of questions adopted by many countries will also facilitate cross-country comparisons, although this would be a secondary objective.
This study proposes to improve and standardise the collection of household health out of pocket spending by developing a core set of questions, and to attribute the OOPs expenditures to diseases through an additional set of questions. The core and expanded set of questions will be recommended for inclusion in all household general consumption and health surveys
Expected Outcomes:
- Finalized protocol
- Study instruments
a) The Secretariat will cover the cost of a return economy class ticket from home country to the city where the workshop will be held.
b) In-country travel from HDSS site to the airport will be covered. Please inform the Secretariat of the cost. Evidence of payment for the travel must be produced.
c) Should overnight stay both in-country and while in transit be necessary, please inform the Secretariat before starting the journey so that adequate preparation is done for reimbursements. Original receipts will be requested by the Secretariat.
Travel advisory:
The Secretariat will usually cover accommodation for the workshop days plus half boarding. A per diem will be paid for dinner and incidentals. All other services at the hotel (mini bar, telephones, etc) must be paid for directly by the participants.
Policy for purchase of tickets:
a) If the workshops are held in Accra, Ghana, the Secretariat will most likely be purchasing the tickets and then send electronic tickets or PTAs to participants.
b) You will be asked to book your flight and advise the Secretariat about the cost. Please do not pay for the ticket without our confirmation. We may be able to get reasonable tickets.
Once you have confirmed a booking and tickets have been bought, you will be responsible for any changes especially if these cause extra expenses.
